With everything bloggers have to do to stay competitive, it’s often the most confusing tasks that get set aside. Important aspects of successful blogging, like the traffic and analytics part of the game get overlooked. For most bloggers, the content and monetization efforts take precedence. Yet, understanding your traffic and the important numbers behind your analytics can help you become a much better blogger.
If you’ve got an iPhone and you want to be able to check look at your analytics without firing up your laptop or netbook, this is actually a really really good app. On the initial screen it shows all the websites in your accounts, there’s no real limitation.
I learned quite a few things at SMX West last week, perhaps one of the most irksome was learning Google’s policy about conference presentations. Google does not share or allow any of their conference presentations to be put online … period.
Google is looking for participants to test usability for some of their products. Participants must be willing to instal software on their home computer to monitor web browsing and searches.
(And folks keep speculating that Google will buy Twitter (Facebook tried, didn’t work out). I think Yahoo might see Twitter as a way to get back to the days of Flickr …making smart moves that help the company keep its mojo and grow data and community rich services. Not sure how folks at Twitter feel about that. I do know Yahoo has cash, which is better than Facebook stock right about now…
