As a seasoned SEO and Google Certified Advertising Professional, I have used several free tools over the years to monitor the performance of my sites and the search engine rankings of competitor sites. Recently, I decided to test out some paid SEO and link monitoring software including today’s two featured software programs, a website ranking software, Advanced Web Ranking and a link popularity software, Advanced Link Manager. I fell in love with each of these programs for their ease of use, reporting integration, and multi-tasking ability.

Ease of Use

Right from the get go, these programs are easy to use. There’s no wasting time and there is not much of a learning curve for those familiar with link building and search engine optimization. With AWR, I was able to check my current rankings right away. Other paid software in this vertical takes a while to set up. Its great that AWR is ready to go out of the box. In regards to establishing preferences, the process is simple and quick for each site (although I wish there was a way to save universal preferences for all sites).

AWR runs off a three main settings: keywords, urls, and search engines. Most users will select the big three search engines and use their own urls (web sites) to monitor their web ranking for specific keywords. One useful feature is the keyword suggestion tool based off of Google’s keyword suggestions (and sometimes Wordtracker if you have an account). I particularly enjoy seeing the number of pages in Google for each suggested keyword because this gives the SEO an idea of the competitiveness of the keyword phrase.

Reporting

Advanced Web Ranking and Advanced Link Manager each have robust reporting features. There are several pre-configured reports so you can impress your clients or your boss right out of the box, but the power of Caphyon’s reporting features is that they are customizable. I’ve always spent a lot of time producing ranking reports for my clients. For a freelance SEO, its key to present the right statistics in an easy to read format so that difficult decisions can be made without hesitation. Making reports easy to read has always been a chore, but with Advanced Web Ranking I can design nice looking templates to display my numbers. In this aspect alone, AWR saves me 10-20 hours a month.

Multi Tasking

When I produce proposals for new clients I collect various pieces of data about the client’s performance and their competitors’ activity. Advanced Web Ranking runs its reporting while I’m checking the site rankings. I love this because I can drill down and check my competitors ranking in the top 20 positions in the search space or check the PR of any sites ranking above. I can do this on any keyword I have in my list. Yes, before you ask it does slow down that rank checking slightly, but its worth it for the data that it collects and it is the sort of data you will always go back a refer to each time you run a report. Ask yourself how many times a client has asked mid month which sites are ranking on a certain term… that’s what I’m talking about!

Caphyon has also put a lot into the reporting features of Advanced Link Manager. I particularly find it useful that I’m able to add my own referring urls for Advanced Link Manager to monitor. Now, if only I could link the monitoring capabilities of Advanced Link Manager with the Submitter tool in Advanced Web Ranking, then these programs would be perfect.

The Submitter tool allows you to navigate from one search engine to the next with ease for quick and easy manual submissions. It allows you to keep track of dates submitted and take personal notes on each engine. Its great, but it could definitely be beefed up a bit by allowing the user to add their own search engines, directories, or link building sites for easy access. The Submitter tool makes manual submission a breeze and if you use it with a program like Roboform then you can do some serious submitting in a short amount of time (its always safer to submit by hand folks).

To make the Submitter tool rock solid, I would suggest a way for it to tell Advanced Link Manager which search engines, directories, and link building sites were submitted to so that they can be monitored as custom referrers. Linking these two functions would make the suite hands-down the best in the biz.

Try it for Yourself – For Free

Don’t take my word for it – go ahead and give Advanced Web Ranking and Advanced Link Manager a try for yourself for free. Caphyon offers a no strings attached free trial. That’s how I found them, and look at me now. I’m sold!

The bottom line is I have tried several tools in my ten years as an internet marketer, and I’ve never found any more useful than these two by Caphyon. Be sure to let me know what you think here in the comments.
