We’re thrilled to report that New Marketing Labs has acquired the Inbound Marketing Summit event from our friends at Hubspot. Going forward, we will rename our events to be the Inbound Marketing Summit. The name New Marketing Summit will be sunk, and a burial at sea will be had. (Apologies to those who commissioned tattoos after last year’s event, because you felt it was so awesome. I have a carnation design that hides it well!)
To say Jack Welch is cocky is a gross understatement. Legend has it that some twelve years after he joined GE , Welch announced at his annual performance review his plan to become CEO. And that was in fact just what the brazen young engineer did. In 1981, Welch stepped into the roll of GE’s youngest Chairman and CEO ever.
With everything bloggers have to do to stay competitive, it’s often the most confusing tasks that get set aside. Important aspects of successful blogging, like the traffic and analytics part of the game get overlooked. For most bloggers, the content and monetization efforts take precedence. Yet, understanding your traffic and the important numbers behind your analytics can help you become a much better blogger.
If you’ve got an iPhone and you want to be able to check look at your analytics without firing up your laptop or netbook, this is actually a really really good app. On the initial screen it shows all the websites in your accounts, there’s no real limitation.
Ive seen many speakers in my life and Gary seriously is one of the most amazing motivating speakers. And I dont mean that in the Tony Robbins type of motivational speaker… I cant explain it but I am sure some Elite Retreat attendees will post some recaps in the next few days.
There’s a huge difference between someone saying that you’re amazing and you saying it about yourself. On the one hand, you sometimes have to explain your credentials. For instance, if I’m asking you to think about what I’m saying, you might want to know my credentials, my qualifications, where I’m from.
You know that asshat who keeps sending you trackback spam for Casino sites and Viagra offers? Yeah, well… umm… that was kinda… well it was ME. Am I sorry about it? Yeah, sometimes I get really choked up about it–like the other day when I got some caviar caught in my throat and tripped over that suitcase full of cash on the way to get more champagne.
An often missed opportunity on Facebook — its Posted Items (now Links) application. As Facebook tweaks this useful application, it becomes more prominent and increasingly has the ability to be more viral within the site and amongst connections. When sharing resources online, the new Facebook links is a good place to start, given it’s audience.
So I got a puzzling cease and desist letter from someone claiming to represent Disa Johnson. Disa is demanding removal of images and paragraphs from this post.
Blogging doesn’t have to be a “what do I want to write today?” exercise. It can be as formal or as informal as you’d like it to be, but should you have specific goals for how blogging influences the rest of your business communications and online relationship building, it might help to have a [...]
Hype has many guises or nuances. Unfortunately, today, hype has become an indiscriminate catch-all-phrase for any type of copy that anyone objects to, for whatever reason. Well, if beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so too is hype. And so, for ease of understanding and with a bow to those who either adore or loathe…
Today is the eve of the Elite Retreat 2009. I am very excited for this years event. We are mixing things up a bit for this year. In years past we always did the leaders speaker sections over 2 days with tons of q&a then at the end of the 2 days we would do our one-on-ones with the attendees. While this worked, there was certainly room for improvement.
I learned quite a few things at SMX West last week, perhaps one of the most irksome was learning Google’s policy about conference presentations. Google does not share or allow any of their conference presentations to be put online … period.
Except for the fact that John Atkinson refuses to rename his company at my request, Pimp My News is a useful product. It lets one receive audio recitations of one’s RSS-enabled blog posts. I’m using it on my iPhone and occasionally let the thing read me some of Pete’s team’s rantings on Mashable and a few other “cant-miss” blogs. I like it because I can close my eyes and listen for a while.
How not to market on Twitter. Chris Brogan shows you how to be a lot smarter and be a lot more human.
I just finished reading Leo Babauta’s new book The Power of Less. Simply put, it’s wonderful, and I think everyone should read it. I could do a praise-filled review like Tim Ferriss, or even a video endorsement of the book like Chris Brogan… but I’m not going to. I’m going with less.
People of Earth: there is no need to panic. Facebook changed it’s terms of service recently. Yes, that’s true. But what it suggests is that most folks don’t really know what they’ve signed on for when using a free service out on the web.
They own your content. No matter what you feel, if you’ve [...]
What brands would you love to have the chance to represent passionately? Most people had fast answers: Apple, Peets Coffee, One Laptop Per Child, Lexus. They were comfortable talking about the brands they loved, and sharing their enthusiasm…
